Steven Middleton is a senior instructor in mass media, an award-winning documentary filmmaker, media consultant, and Appalachian historian. Since 2008, he has served on the faculty at Morehead State University, where he developed and leads the Social Media minor within the Media Production & Journalism program.

Steven has produced nineteen documentary films that explore the rich cultural tapestry of Appalachia and Kentucky. Notable works include Commonwealth Curiosities Volumes 1 & 2, Between the Rock and the Commonwealth, Stages and Waves: An Excursion Through Challenging Times, and From the Cowboy’s Boot Heel: The Musical Journey of Rob McNurlin. His films have been featured on four PBS affiliates and screened at film festivals around the world.
